environmental education, place, and art in coastal georgia and beyond

About

I’m Betsy Rogers.  I’m an environmental educator in coastal Georgia, where I grew up.  Despite my subtropical upbringing, I’ve spent much of my adult life in the temperate rainforests, boreal forests, and rocky coastlines of Alaska.

Newly launched, this site documents my musings on environmental education, place, flora and fauna, and other related topics.  I adore learning about the deep and richly complex landscapes around me — how we shape them and how they shape us, and hope to share this learning with you.

I have a BS in Biology from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA and an MS in Outdoor and Environmental Education from Alaska Pacific University.  I’ve done environmental education on both coasts.

I love birds.  I participate in bird banding activities fairly often.  I paint some fantastical little birds with watercolors (see my Etsy store).
